Wedding Wednesday- A travel and wine themed wedding in Sonoma, California

July 18, 2012

Tom and I have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Sonoma and San Francisco. The main purpose of our trip was to attend our friend Owen's wedding to his fiance Melissa. Tom and I both went to high school with Owen and he was the MC at our wedding in December.

If you are a regular reader, you may remember all my tips from the organized bride Melissa that I posted last Wednesday. Here are some snapshots of the day in action!

We stopped by the salon to see Melissa and her bridesmaids getting ready. Here's the DRESS all ready for the big day!

During the day of the wedidng we relaxed by the pool with some California treats we picked up at the market down the road from our hotel. It was heavenly!

Melissa displayed the seating chart on post cards and wine corks

We were at Table Sri Lanka. All the tables were named after favourite places they had visited.

These were the cake toppers for the mini cupcakes! So cute!

They had a dessert bar with all kinds of yummy finger desserts to sample.

They even had whoopie pies!

As an RSVP, Melissa and Owen had everyone send them a postcard. They displayed them at the reception and guests had a great time looking at all the postcards people sent from all over the world.

Of course, there was plenty of wine! Before, during and after the wedding!

Here I am with 2 of my besties and bridesmaids in my wedding- Lisa and Cara.

The ceremony was short and sweet and HOT! Poor Owen and the other groomsmen wore black suits and it was 36 degrees out there!! Here is Owen and his mom, Jamie walking down the aisle.

Owen had his brother Matt and step brothers Lawson and Dan as his groomsmen.

Cocktail hour!

Melissa's shoes were gorgeous! Badgley Mishka and her something BLUE!

Names were displayed by making a cut in a wine cork.

Instead of a guest book, Melissa made these Mad Libs for guests to fill out. At our table, we filled them out for eachother and had a great laugh and how funny they turned out!

The speeches and dinner ended just as it began to get dark. It was a beautiful setting.

The party moved inside to the dancefloor. Here are Owen and Mel having their first dance.

There was a fight for the bouquet, but Lisa caught it! Stay tuned for more REAL weddings! :)
