Baked BBQ Ribs

September 24, 2012

Saturday night I whipped up a batch of these tasty little things! This is another one of Mama Tweedle-in-Law's recipes that she got from her mother. It's one of Tom Tweedle's faves and as soon as fall hits, it's a nice comfort food to smell wafting through the kitchen!

The first step is to brown the ribs. Just cut a rack of ribs into serving sized pieces and put them in a casserole dish or a roasting pan for about 30 minutes at 450. You don't have to do anything to them! No oil or spices.
The second step is to reduce the oven temperature to 325, make the BBQ sauce (recipe below) and pour it over the browned ribs. Return them to the oven for another hour, until they are caramelized and the sauce is bubbly.

When they come out of the oven, they'll look like this!
In the meantime, you cook some egg noodles. When the ribs are done, remove the meat from the baking dish and put the noodles in. The wet, steamy noodles will deglaze the roasting dish and the noodles will become coating with all the extra sauce and yummy bits of meat stuck to the sides of the pan.

Serve it like this and enjoy!!!
Mama Tweedle in Law's BBQ Spareribs

Place 3 lbs spareribs in a roasting pan and brown at 450 for 30 mins.
In the meantime make the sauce. In a small pot add:

- 1 TBSP of butter
- 8 oz tomato paste
- 1 TBSP vinegar
- 1 TBSP lemon juice
- 2 TBSP brown sugar
- 1 TSP salt
- 1 TSP dry mustard
- 1/2 TSP tobasco sauce
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 crushed garlic clove
- 1/4 C water

Bring it all to a boil and pour over browned ribs. Cook 1 hour at 325, stir every 15 mins. Remove ribs from roasting pan and serve with egg noodles mixed with sauce from the pan. Use the noodles to scrape the bottom and sides of the pan before serving.
