Miss Tweedle's facelift!

March 07, 2014

I have mentioned a few times that I have been working on making it easier for my readers to leave comments on the blog. I am not too sure how many of you actually want to leave comments and couldn't figure out how to do so. All I know is that unless you are familiar with how many blogs are set up, it was difficult to click through many screens until you were able to type and post your comment.

When I first started writing the blog, I would publish my post and then wait patiently for at least ONE comment to show up, but alas, week after week and post after post, NO ONE would leave me even one word! Weeks went by with me pouring my heart and soul into several posts and I would think, OK this is a really good one, someone will leave a comment for me... and NOTHING!

I gave up caring about it and on the odd days that a random person would finally leave a comment for me I considered it a lucky day! However, NOW, nobody has an excuse. The blog has a giant button at the bottom of each post that takes you to the space where you can comment!! You do not have to enter your email address or even your name, you can chose to remain anonymous, even though it would be nice to know who you are.

I also made a few other small changes which I have explained below.

As you can see, the blog is now a "2 column layout" with the posts appearing larger than they were before. I decided I wanted to have bigger pictures and have the focus more on the posts themselves than on the 2 sidebars.
The menu bar at the top of the blog is slightly different. I took away the "advertise" button as I have never had any response from offering this and I am no longer pursuing advertising for my blog. I am writing it purely for my own enjoyment and the posts themselves take me enough time each week without adding more to the upkeep with ad sales. Have you ever clicked on the tabs on my menu bar? I have updated the Tweedle Tips page and the Daily Reads page.
When you come to the Tweedle Tips page, you'll see 6 categories which all of the original tutorials I have done will fall into. I have linked to each DIY post so you can access each of them in one easy spot. I have not linked to posts that I have written about other blogs or recipes I have copied. Only my original recipes and posts are listed here.

Since beginning Miss Tweedle, my interests have changed slightly (more mommy stuff!) and some of the blogs I used to read do not exist anymore or are not being updated. I have discovered many more blogs that I am interested in now and I have updated my list which you can see if you click on the "daily reads" tab. I have also included some of my favourite instagram accounts to follow.
I now have a Baby Tweedle button! Just like the Wedding Wednesday button, there is a baby button where you can find a list of all my baby posts in one spot. As I add more, this will be updated.
The social media buttons have changed slightly. Did you know that you can LIKE Miss Tweedle on Facebook? (click on the Facebook button), you can follow me on Twitter, Pinterest or Instagram by clicking on those buttons too!

Lastly, the best part is that it should be easier for you to leave me comments on my posts!! At the bottom of every post you will see my signature, then the section with "you might also like" and THEN the big, pink, POST A COMMENT button! That's what you need to click in order to comment!

When you click that button, you will be taken to a screen that looks like this.
First, you type your comment.
Directly under the space where you type your comment, you will see a drop down menu that says "comment as". Click on that and select "Name/URL" as shown.
Type in your name. If you have your own blog or website and you wish to leave that information, type it in too. If you do not have a website, leave that space blank.
Click the blue "Publish" button when you are finished. That's it! I have to approve your comment before it will be visible to you, so it may take a couple of hours if I am not at my computer. I get a lot of spam messages on my blog and I prefer to only have "real" comments appear. I assure you that your comment will be read and appreciated, though!
So for those of you who have read to the end of this post, and who are brave enough to try this commenting thing... I am having a giveaway! In celebration of my updated blog, I am giving away one embroidered custom made name (just like the one shown)!

It's really easy to enter. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS LEAVE A COMMENT ON THIS POST! The winner will receive the name of their choice in the colours of their choice done as above and sent to their doorstep! I will chose a random recipient from the list of comments and the winner will be announced one week from today. Because I will not have everyone's email addresses, you will need to check the blog next Friday to see if you have won! If you are the winner I will give you instructions on how to claim your prize.

Happy commenting, everyone! Thanks for reading Miss Tweedle!

  1. Hi Katie! Amelia from Washington, DC, here! I have never commented, but found your blog a while ago (before your little one was born) and have been a reader ever since! I originally enjoyed reading your DIY project posts the most, but have to say that I love how you've included Nora on your blog as well. My husband and I don't have kids yet, but it's great to see what motherhood can look like. :) Also, your blog is just wonderfully laid out and colorful. Thanks for writing!

    1. Thanks Amelia! I'm so excited to hear that you like the blog and have been a long time follower. I thought only my mom was reading it!! :))

  2. Since I already have a beautiful custom embroidered house that Miss Tweedle gave me for Christmas, I am opting out of the contest. But I just wanted to see how this Comment thing works!

  3. Katie, I am on here daily, but you are right, the comment button was a lot of work (so texting you is usually easier.haha!) Excited to see all the readers you have around the globe enjoying Miss Tweedle! :-)

I know this doesn't count as a second entry, but I think that Miss Tweedle's clothes line should also have a few Baby Tweedle items on it in your graphic!

    1. That is such a cute idea!

  8. I love your site! I have been following Miss Tweedle since around when you got married (?), and love how much detail you put into your posts. So proud of you, Katie!

  9. I have never commented on a blog before .You gave great instructions. I have been enjoying your Blog since last summer when Nora was born. It is fun to see Miss Tweedle updates arrive in my inbox.
The embroidered custom made name would be so awesome to give to my niece who just had her 1st baby.

  10. Woohoo - Loving the new look!

  11. Miss Tweedle...you are doing an excellent job. I find your blog fascinating, exciting, informative and sweet. As a much older shirt tale relative, it is fun to have a young lady teach an old lady new tricks. I'd love to have had the resources you now do to blog about your sweet baby Nora. Still waiting for what to do with half used candles in glass jars! Keep it up, Klaus and I both read your blog every week!
