An Artwork Update

June 09, 2014

I need to preface this post by saying that I shudder at the thought of posting this with photos that are so terrible! However, it is VERY hard to take good photos of framed artwork. And it is even harder to take them in a basement suite with little natural light and the only natural light that is there is BACKLIGHT!! (shudder!!)

So, I'm sorry. These photos don't do it justice. Just think of it as being "vintage inspired" and the photos add to the effect. Mmmm kay??!

As you know, I am obsessed with ornate frames (read about it here and here and here and here) and I am always trying to find ways to use them. I have wanted to fit one around the current wedding photo that hangs in our living room for a while now, and I finally got around to doing it with one of my recent garage sale finds. I didn't have to do a thing to the frame. I liked the gold colour of it and I thought it brought out the colours in the picture as well. It makes the photo pop off the wall and fills more of the space.

While I was at it, I hung a couple of our other vintage faves on a blank wall in our place. I have a dream that one day I will have a house with an entire wall covered in a gallery wall with an exciting mix of frames and colours, vintage and modern, and maybe a little hoop art or tapestry thrown in the mix. But until then, we will have to settle for a small piece of heaven and hang a three photo gallery wall with some of my vintage faves.

From left to right: Mr. Tweedle's buffalo print which he has had since he was a kid, my collectible kitten artwork from Art from the Attic a few years ago and my beautiful vintage petit point which I scored from Art from the Attic as well. I love all three of these pieces and never quite knew where to hang them as our wall space is limited, but I think they look great together!

Seriously, these photos give me hives!! Oh! The orangish lighting and the GIANT white box in the MIDDLE of the photo!! But you get the gist....

Still on the list of "vintage inspired" art to hang with my other pieces are these two beauties also from Art from the Attic. Waiting for the perfect vintage frames and we be addin' to that wall... just you wait, gallery wall. Just you wait....
And just because this post needs one nice, bright and properly lit photo... I finished a new piece of embroidery a few days ago and it is also hanging in our place now! I'm going to make a few more similar to this and add them to the shop though. Love how this turned out!
